Painting Holidays

From the tranquil harbour of Castelsardo to the quaint hilltop village of Monteleone RoccaDoria, the rugged drama of the cliffs of Capo Caccia with spectacular views of the sea, the peaceful mountain of Monte Minerva, or the ancient ruins of Nuraghe Palmavera… Sardinia offers a wealth of subject matter for any professional or aspiring artist.

Children playing in the pia

Now in our 3rd successful year, we have five exciting new tutors to bring you, including Wendy Jelbert, Keith Fenwick, David Coupe, Carole Massey and Kate Stenhouse. At BellaSardinia, we pride ourselves on service with a personal touch. Maria is our local Sardinian who has an extensive knowledge of her beautiful island and offers you a wonderful opportunity to learn about Sardinia from a very knowledgeable and completely fluent English-speaking host.

Our painting holidays are carefully tailored to suit artists of all levels of ability, from beginner to expert, working in a variety of painting mediums, including pencil, pen and ink, watercolour, pastel, acrylic and oil.

On all our holidays, tutoring is offered on an individual basis, sensitive to ability and experience. Our tutors are vastly experienced in tutoring beginners and are attentive to all our guests' individual artistic needs. They work closely with them to help them develop their skills so visible progress can be achieved within the week. With seven different tutors, two locations and a range of dates, deciding on the ideal holiday for you may take a little time!

  Sunset in Costa Smeralda

We select our hotels based on comfort, location, food and charm with en-suite facilities. All our meals are taken as a group and we are served traditional local home cooking which is prepared daily using only the finest, freshest local ingredients and with what is in season. The wine is plentiful and is the perfect accompaniment to the local cuisine. Read an independent Trip Advisor review of Hotel Funtanarena, one of our chosen hotels, please click here...

Riverside Bosa

Sardinia is especially beautiful in autumn and spring, when the island is less crowded, is truly stunning and is still blessed with good weather with the average daily temperatures between 20-25°C and with 7-11 hours of daily sunshine. We do our best to pick the best weeks for painting, avoiding the hottest summer months when the sun is at its highest point in the sky, the light is completely flat and there are no shadows to create form.

However, despite all the best planning in the world we do sometimes get the occasional wet day and for this reason all our locations have covered facilities in which we can work and thus ensure everyday is a productive painting day!

Our hassle-free, all inclusive land packages include all meals, including wine and water with dinner, accommodation, painting tuition, land transportation, entrance fees (to sites included in the itinerary), and transfers to and from Alghero airport or Alghero town on arrival and departure days. Simply put, leave the arrangements to us so that you can spend more time enjoying yourself!

Our many repeat guests and the high marks we score on our feedback forms tell us that we consistently deliver high calibre holidays at a great value for money prices. But don’t just take our word for it… see for yourself what our guests have been saying about us, please click here...

Many thanks for all your hard work to make my week in Sardinia so enjoyable. I really had a great time, learnt a lot, gained a lot of confidence that I can become (with a lot more practice) a reasonable artist, and made some new friends who I hope to meet again on a future painting holiday. It really was a holiday that ended far too soon, so mille grazie once again.

Buona fortuna with all your future projects.

The painting holiday with Anne Lang at the Palazzo Minerva was a memorable experience. The hotel is situated in idyllic surroundings with plenty of scope for many painting opportunities. John and Maria were excellent host and hostess and organised the holiday both before and after in a friendly and efficient manner. They helped us with the easels, chairs and umbrellas whenever we needed them and nothing was too much trouble. All the food was traditional, well cooked and very varied, with plenty of local wine to add to the pleasure. The typical Sardinian villages where we painted were an artist’s dream and the local people were very friendly. Alghero, in its position on the coast was a magical place. I feel that as well as having a thoroughly good holiday I have learned a lot about outdoor painting and sketching with Anne’s expert guidance.

John & Maria’s organising skills and attention to detail meant that nothing was left to chance and so this plus their friendliness and assistance, if needed, made this painting holiday a relaxing experience. All I had to do was enjoy the excellent food, wine and good company – oh, and of course the painting. Being an all inclusive holiday, this was very good value for money. Best wishes for the future. Keep in touch.

I feel having been taught by Anne (Lang) I would like to go on her courses in England. I feel more confident about starting a watercolour and the completion. For me it was the best of both worlds, plenty of painting and painting in beautiful surroundings.
